Mrs Carol Pipes
Sherbrooke, 11 septembre 2024
1942 – 2024
Carol Pipes, a beloved mother, aunt, Nana and friend passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024, in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Carol was lovingly known as Piper to many.
Born on June 25, 1942, to Arthur Brown Lawton Pipes and Bertha Pipes (nee Barton), Carol was soon known as an energetic, busy child, who always wanted to take care of others. After graduating from Saint John High School, Carol became a nurse at Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing. She wanted to advance her education, and she became a Registered Nurse after graduating from Dalhousie University in 1963. She was ready to take on the world! In 1971 Carol relocated with her family to Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. There, she worked at the Victoria General Hospital as a Nursing Teacher, as she was young mother with two children. Her family came first, and she also wanted to continue with her career, this option gave her work/life balance. She decided to go back to Dalhousie university in 1979, and she graduated in 1984 with a BSC in Health Sciences. Carol’s career took a turn when she began working as an advocate for women and men at the Service for Sexual Assault Victims (now known as Avalon House), as their volunteer co-ordinator. She left this position and took some time off not sure what she was going to pursue next. Her desire to care for others had her interested in naturopathy, so she became a Doctor of Naturopathy. She ran a small clinic for a few years and had great satisfaction from this work. She finally retired in 2007; however, she was still taking care of others. Nana was a dedicated grandmother to her eight grandchildren. There we countless drives to pools, rinks, fields, schools, parties. She loved their birthday parties and would have theme nights at the cottage for her grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren and spent as much time with them as she could. Carol was always on the go, learning a new skill or meeting new friends. She loved spending her time with her family either in Nova Scotia or in Quebec. In the warmer months in Malagash at the cottage, she walked the beach looking for see glass and enjoying the slower pace. She was energetic, a mischievous joker, loved to laugh and have a great time wherever she went. Carol is pre-deceased by parents, her brother John, sister-in-law Jill, and her beloved cat Sally.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Maxwell (Gregory Mosher), her son Jeff Wackett (Elisabeth Pareanen), nephew James, grandchildren Daisy (Jon), Ryan (Brianne), Katharine, Rose-Amélie, Maria-Dahlia, Talia-Laure, Luke Mosher (Megan) and Jay Mosher (Elysia).
Visitation will be held on September 27, 2024, at 1pm at the Church of Saint Andrew, Cole Harbour, 2 Circassion Drive. A celebration of her life will be held immediately after at 2pm. Lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia
