Sherbrooke, 8 February 2023

On February 8, 2023, Ivy Margaret Richardson nee Arbery, passed away suddenly and peacefully at the age of 88. Ivy was the wife of Fred Richardson and beloved mother to Peter, Jimmy (Kathleen), Ann (Serge) and Susan. Ivy had a career at Bell Telephone before becoming a fulltime mom in the late 50’s. Raising four misfits was a job and a half for her. After all the children were out of school, Ivy went back to work as an assistant to the editor at The Record working with the late Charles Bury, where she was a second mother to many young and old reporters for over two decades.

After retiring from The Record, Ivy devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, you would often see her at a basketball, football, hockey games or a figure skating show with them.

Ivy loved her vacations in Nova Scotia, driving the 13-hour trip herself at times. Reading, shopping at Costco, working in her backyard and a walk around Jacques Cartier Park were other hobbies that she enjoyed.

Ivy was the epitome of love, generosity, kindness, strength, selflessness towards her family, extended family, relative’s, friends and to all that surrounded her.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
